Happiness is an asset. It’s something that comes from you and has no purpose besides making you happy.
Yet, we cannot come to terms with happiness.
We are unhappy, lonely and unproductive.
Most is what comes through our own perception while other aspects are just far-fetched.
Happiness is no secret and attainable for everybody.
You just never knew the ways to be happy for long enough.
The Three Pillars of Happiness
Happiness consists of the following three aspects:
Pleasure, Engagement and Meaning.
Feeling pleasure can be derived from enjoying life, engagement derives from being deeply involved in projects you love and meaning is your purpose in life.
Scientific research has shown that balancing these three aspects of happiness can lead to a sustainable happiness.
In other words: You can be happier longer than before.
Knowledge is not enough to build a strong foundation, you will have to develop new habits and skills that can make you happy.
And apart from pursuing interests, there’s a lot more.
Your Happiness Routine
There are two simple ways you can get started. The one is through daily practices which we will cover shortly, and the other one through social connections.
Your daily practices are rituals or habits that give your life stability. Stretching after waking up, listening to classical music, reading a book or engaging in exercise.
Whatever it is that gets you out of bed is important to acknowledge.
And we know how it can feel sometimes: There is no reason to wake up…
It feels horrible to get up at 6:45 am not knowing why one is here. Sometimes your daily life gets in the way of your daily practices and that is the reason why you have to build a life outside of your normal routine.
Maybe you can get yourself to study a foreign language after school or work? Or learn SEO and marketing?
Just try to implement one thing at a time and you will see the results faster.
But your daily practices are not enough.
Did you know that your brain shrinks if you have no social contacts?
We are social animals and depriving yourself from social connections will make you not happy.
Nurture friendships that have helped you in the past and don‘t let go of the people willing to help you and seeing you grow.
Commit to new friendships and see where people can lead you if you let them.
But remember your boundaries. If you feel uncomfortable or disrespected talk through it or end the relationship completely.
And that is the roadway to your happiness.
